compose window deletes my text instead of publishing it
-
Yesterday evening when I tried to preview my post it was deleted completely it isn’t even in Trash. When I reloaded from backup and clicked “publish” all the text was deleted again leaving only the tags and category. I was posting from the text window of the composer. I am attempting to use the visual window today but I never liked that mode of composing and would like the text window to work like it did before. Before I entered my post, corrected grammar and spelling via “proofread” (another button that isn’t there) and then checked the HTML in “preview” and went back and corrected it before clicking “publish”. Can this be fixed so I can edit my posts and do my own HTML (I can code a link by hand faster than I can use the link tool from the bar).

That’s where I was working before. Now all the tools are messed up and the only thing posted from yesterday’s post was the tag list and the category.

I’m sorry I cannot help you beyond what I already suggested.

Hi there,
So you’re saying that you were working in the older editor and it published without any text and that the buttons are now missing (from the text editor side of things)?
Is that still the case for you, or have things cleared up at all? We recently made some fixes to After the Deadline, the engine which drives the proofreading tool (specifically in how it behaves in the old editor while editing in Text format), and if there is something broken in there I’d really like to know!
Thanks in advance!

I was working with the “blue window” editor and in spite of regular saves when I hit Preview everything disappeared including the edit history of previous saves. Needless to say I was upset because my blog is a news aggregator that has sometimes dozens of links that take hours to find and transfer to the post with appropriate comments.
Now I’m back on the “Black window” editor after finding where it went and things are working normally again. If things are broken they are broken in a way I know how to work with them, and if they get “fixed” I won’t know what to do because I got used to working with the way they were. I know how to use save and edit history to get back to versions from before I made a mistake, and the proofreader is good for catching major grammatical mistakes (although I’m not so enamoured of its “passive tense” fetish, why use 5 words when you can say the same thing with 2 or 3).

I’m very sorry to hear that happened to you. The New editor (the blue window) is indeed having some problems which we’re working on. We hope to get them all resolved shortly, at which point you should be able to go back to working in that editor with no worries about your content at all.
Again, my apologies!
