Compromised password and no access to associated email address
-
I received a compromised password notification from google regarding my old wordpress account. When I tried to log in to my account, my password no longer worked and I don’t have access to the email address associated with it anymore. I’m using a different account just to post here so now I have 2 accounts I need removed/deleted…
From what I’ve gathered, since I don’t have a paid for wordpress account I can’t do anything or speak to an actual human being?
I have proof the account is mine, just not the proof they are asking for which only relates to paid for accounts and features that didn’t exist the last time I used the account. Other than making a GDPR complaint is there any other recourse? -
Good morning –
We aren’t going to be able to assist with this through the public forums. Please send an email to
passwordhelp@wordpress.com.If the account was created through WordPress.org (the open source software) then you would follow these steps: https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
We can tell you which version of WordPress was in use if you’re able to provide the site URL that was involved. Thank you.
