compromised sites
-
Hi there,
I have a WordPress site on the domain thepunchupguy.com. It is hosted by Hostrocket.
This past week, I have been informed that this site has been compromised by phishing sites
<>
Hostrocket has given me the order to fix this immediately and then provided little assistance other than some vague steps and links: ‘Update web applications,’ ‘Remove all plugins that are not in use,’ ‘Replace Affected Files,’ ‘Update all modules’…
As I am not a web designer, I find this difficult.
They used to have staff on hand that could help with this, but no longer do and so told me to contact WordPress.
Is there anyone there who can help?
Please contact me at (email visible only to moderators and staff) which I believe is my WordPress email.I have another domain which I am now having trouble getting into (I used what SHOULD be my password, but it’s not working) and asked to have my new password link sent to that email, but it doesn’t seem to be working which makes me wonder if that’s the correct email (even though it went through) or b) my whole system is corrupted.
So this might be a second issue.
If this email does not work, please use (email visible only to moderators and staff).I appreciate your help.

Hello there, you’ve posted to the support forums for sites hosted by WordPressdotcom. For help with your site using the open source WordPress (org) software you’ll want to head over to https://wordpress.org/support where they likely have more experience with the type of issue you are having. If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on that page.
Just again to clarify, this support forum assists users of WordPressdotcom hosted sites. Standalone WordPress (org) and WordPressdotcom (where we are) are different entities with separate documentation and support forums; more information about the differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Best wishes.

Okay. Thank you, Jennifer.
I’ll say this — the Internet does not make it easy when something goes wrong.
But I appreciate your guidance.Best,
Andy
