Computer/programming blog theme

  I have tried most of the free themes, and none of them are really suitable.
  I was using a good theme which is about 5 years old, but now I have changed it, it is not possible to go back as its no longer listed.

  The problem with most themes is they are geared towards nice looking home pages, rather than readable blogs.

  Specifically, I need the categories menu at the top, and the other menus, such as recent posts/archives/comments etc. should take up as little of the critical blog space as possible.

  The current theme I am using, for example, has too large a font for the headers and loses too much width.

  Any suggestions?

  If the theme was used on https://devhobbs.wordpress.com/ previously and you can remember the name of the theme, then, even though it is retired (and WordPress.com would recommend using a more modern theme) you would be able to activate it once more via the wp-admin dashboard (add /wp-admin/themes.php to your address).
