Concern on the .html extension on wordpress website
-
We have a website which is an e-commerce platform, which is built in wordpress.
But the problem is, earlier this website was in .html for products and blog was in wordpress itself. Now in all pages are merged into wordpress CMS only.
In order to keep the URL’s at it is – an extension is applied to have .html at the end of the url.
Just wanted to understand – it is best for SEO to have an .html in wordpress website

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?

Thank you for the response, the URL is https://www.kombuchakamp.com it has pages with .html mainly for products, while categories and blogs & recipes don’t have the .html extension.
And all the pages, like 300+ that has .html extension don’t rank or get much traffic but other pages that don’t have .html, gets good traffic.

Hi there,
We can’t help directly because we don’t host kombuchakamp.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result, we can’t take a closer look at your site.
Instead your host (Easy DNS) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (sometimes called “WordPress.org”) which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com.
Typically you do not need to add the .html extension back to your URL, but instead you just need to set up redirection for your links. ON WordPress.com we have a system for redirection but it does not work with your Easy DNS site.
The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of redirection issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!
