confirmation email
-
HI,
I signed up about an hour ago, yet, I have not received my confirmation e-mail. I have pushed the “resend email” a few times, but no luck. I have checked ALL folders, including spam folder, again, no luck.
I paid for the $99 upgrade, so I am also confused why my URL is listed below (on this contact page) as having wordpress in the URL.
While waiting on the confirmation e-mail, I figured I would start a few draft posts. I am incredibly happy I saved my post into my word program, or I would have lost it completely. I hit save and it was sent to draft, but then, when I went back to start a new post, the original one was gone.
I was not going to use WordPress, but a friend suggested it to me. So, not only did I use WordPress.com (thinking that would be the best way to start out), but I paid for the upgraded package, now I can’t seem to get anything to work. I don’t always have a lot of down time, so this is incredibly frustrating. Especially, when your “ad” page says to sign up and get started right away with Blogging.
Also, I thought, with upgraded package, I would be allowed e-mail help, not open forum help? Do I have that wrong? Will I have to wait until someone in the open forum answers my question each time?
This is not a good way to start a brand new relationship. It’s only the first night and I already want to break up.
So… how can I get the confirmation email sent to me?

When I search this problem in your forum database, this is a serious ongoing issue, all the way back to last year. YET, for every person who has the problem, the answer to the problem is not listed in the thread. The answer normally is something like, “Your page should be working now. Let us know if you have any other problems.” Which sounds like to me, it is an internal issue at the company level that continues to be an issue month after month. This is a serious waste of my time, and the time of the people waiting to have the issue fixed. I could understand if this was the .org side of the business, but this is the .com side of the business, and from everything I researched, the .com side was very well organized and fixed issues very quickly.

Hi PITA MOM,
I apologize for the frustration here. I know this is certainly frustrating when you’re trying to get up and going with your site.
First, regrading the confirmation email, I know you mentioned you checked all folders. Did you also check the “Social” tab in Gmail? Our emails generally land there. If it’s not there, please let me know.
Regarding the domain, the .wordpress.com variation of your domain is strictly for admin purposes around WordPress.com. Visitors to your site will only see justshutupandeatit.com.
As for the support (private vs. public forum), you should have the ability to create a new private forum thread here:
Otherwise, you can reach out to us directly at help@wordpress.com.

Yes. I checked every folder. Every single one. So, how much longer before someone gives me any answer at all?

I am using the e-mail you sent me and sending in my issue that way. I hope to receive some help in one of these many ways. I just don’t understand why something as easy as a confirmation e-mail is so difficult to fix. Especially since this is an ongoing issue.

This is crazy.
So, I figuered out what is happening, but, nothing I can do is fixing it.
When I first set up my account, I set my e-mail address to (email visible only to moderators and staff) (there is an “a” missing). So, I sent myself an e-mail to fix it. I clicked on the e-mail, and I fixed it… OVER and OVER again I did this. Never would the new email address “stick”. Finally, I thought, after all that time, the new address worked. Nope. Now, that I have gone back and checked it again. It still not not “stick”. So, I have been working on it right now. Re-sending myself the e-mails to make the changes in just my e-mail. NOPE.
Every time I send myself the e-mail to change the actual e-mail address, this is what I get ….. “Your email address has not been updated yet. Please check your inbox at (email visible only to moderators and staff) for a confirmation email.” — So, I do that. I click on the link… and I try to change it. Then, I get this notice again and again.
The first thing we need to do is fix the email address. I thought I fixed it the first night. Nope.
The address it is supposed to be is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Thank you
Amanda

Hi Amanda,
Thanks for the clarification here. I really apologize this is taking so long. When you’re clicking the confirmation link in the email, are you logged into WordPress.com in your browser? Does the link cause a browser window to open up?

SIGH — yes. This is way more frustrating then I am used to when blogging.
Step by step what is happening….
1. When I originally signed up, I missed a letter in my e-mail address.
2. I used all the correct e-mails to change it. But, after many attempts (now 20), I now know I wrongly assumed it was fixed. It is not.3. I go to my e-mail. I click on the link to change my e-mail. It brings me to my page (I have tried both ways to stay logged in and to log out – neither works).
4. — This is the message under my settings — There is a pending change of your e-mail to….. amanda — on– the –net — @- gmail.com (ignore the dashes).
5. But, when I try to change it. My e-mail will not change. Which means, I can’t receive the actual confirmation e-mail to actually start my blog.
I realize this website is ran by the users, BUT, I actually paid the upgrade so I would not have to worry about constant issues like this. If I am going to have this many issues, I might as well just go to .org.
THE other terrible part about this is, someone out there is receiving all the e-mails associated with this issue. If they are someone who is cruel, they could easily hack my account. SO, I need this fixed as soon as possible. This passing back and forth messages isn’t helping.
Who do I need to contact to actually fix my e-mail in my settings? I have had this account for many days now, and the issue still isn’t fixed. WHO has the exact authority to fix my e-mail in my account?

The issue is finally fixed. But, not because of WP. I open another e-mail address under the wrong e-mail address. I then sent myself an e-mail under the wrong address. I confirmed that way.
I know WP is the largest blog site in the world, but I would never recommend it to anyone, especially the upgraded version.
I am sorry, but this hassle, and waiting for support, is not worth it.
