When you say the link did not work, did you not receive the confirmation email to your new address? Please note, the links do expire after 24-48 hours and resending the email (trying to change the address again) will nullify previous links. Can you try to send the email one last time following the instructions here?

t tried to change the email-address once more. I got the confirmation email immediately, followed the link. The new account options were right, but I could not save them. The saving did not work! -

It does not look like there is a pending email address change on your account. When you login, is the correct email address displayed here?
