Confirmation over cancellation
-
I have cancelled my account for hosting and domain as I plan to switch to self hosting using wordpress on further research and not realising there were 2 avenues to go down with wordpress.
I have not received a confirmation email that I will be refunded for cancelling within the 30 day period. The account is now noted as free and the website I had started has now been removed. Is there anything further I need to do?
Is there a rough length of time before the domain would be released too? I registered it 2 days ago and didnt realise it would take 60 days before I could transfer it so chose to cancel it as surely this would take less time!?
Thanks

Hi @dknjamm, if you cancelled the domain within 2 days, you’ll get a full refund. The domain will be released for re-registration after a mandatory waiting period, though it’s usually just a few days since you cancelled quickly.
I can confirm your full refund was processed and is on its way, and I’ll send a receipt for that as well. Please allow several days for that to show on your bank statement.
And for more info on WordPress.com vs WordPress.org, see this link:
Basically our service provides hosting, support, and maintenec for the sites hosted here with us; we aren’t able to support or maintain individual installations. But there is a forum at https://wordpress.org/support/ if you’d like help from the community.
Best wishes!
