Confit – center/main "columns" appear more narrow than theme demo

Forgive my ignorance, as I am extremely new to this. I picked the Confit theme, but my columns on each page, where the main content appears, look much narrower than the Confit example pages. How can I make that appear wider, and will also allow for users to scroll less to see the content for each page?

The theme is displaying correctly. To widen the theme will require the purchase of an annually renewable custom design upgrade and CSS editing.
