Confit theme: Internet Explorer not displaying correctly

  I’m using the confit theme and Internet Explorer version 8 is rendering my blog horribly. Safari, Chrome, and Firefox all display identically to each other and correctly.
  I’ve posted some screenshots illustrating the problem below.

  I don’t know if perhaps it’s due to a particular setting specific to my IE or more widespread. I realize v8 is not the most recent version of IE, but if the issue is a little more pervasive, I’d appreciate any suggestions for making this less ugly. And no, I can’t upgrade because Windows XP doesn’t support anything higher than IE8.

  I have an issue open with support for a similar formatting issue on my windows laptop. It is running windows xp also. I’ve created my website vickiOart.com using my iPad, which formats correctly, but when I bring it up on my laptop it displays with one column only. I just went to your website on my laptop and it looks just like your ie screen capture (incorrect).

  I am not getting a response back on my open issue and it has been open for 14 days. I am using the Blaskan theme.

  Sorry to hear you are experiencing a similar issue with your blog. I honestly don’t expect any sort of resolution on this matter. From other forum posts I’ve read it seems the response is usually something like, “we tested this on IE8 and it looks fine to us” or “there are a limited number of IE8 users on WP so we aren’t going to bother.” For the time being, I put a notification on my “About” page saying “best viewed with chrome, safari, or firefox.”

  Confit does not currently support Internet Explorer 8, but it does support IE 9 and IE 10.

  If you’re stuck on XP, I recommend using Firefox.

  I personally use Chrome. I was more concerned about how others were viewing it. It does not make a good impression when the site doesn’t display correctly. As an XP user, the highest version I could test with was 8. However, I am relieved to hear it works with IE 9 and 10.
