Confused

This is just a general question:

My husband and I are very confused. We (and our colleague Julio T.) were working with our domain cubanoscanadienses.com for the past few months (May-August) and had our email (email visible only to moderators and staff). We left the association and passed all the information and passwords to the association president.

We then opened our new domain elmundodedarwin.com through SHOPIFY and created a new email almost two months ago approximately (Aug 15).

Yesterday, the association president contacted me to say that he received an email from wordpress.com (he sent me a screenshot) saying the following:

    Hi there,
We recently received a request to change the email address for the WordPress.com user (email visible only to moderators and staff) from (email visible only to moderators and staff) to (email visible only to moderators and staff). If you made this request […]
    Regards,
    All at WordPress.com

Then they forwarded an email that reportedly came from you (wordpress) stating:

    Hello,
Our records show that you recently completed a request to delete your domain name cubanoscanadienses.com associated with your WordPress.com account. This email is to confirm that your domain has been deleted. […]
    Your friends at WordsPress.com’

Then the association president (the team we used to be a part of) forwarded me an email stating the following:
    ‘Hello,
    The auth-code for cubanoscanadienses.com is :
    Ugvs-xxx-xxx-xxx.
Please keep this authorization code secure at all times as it can be used to move your domain between providers.’

We are so confused because none of us have made these changes?
How could these changes have occurred without us making them?
If we did not make those changes (us at El Mundo de Darwin), how would WordPress have the email elmundodedarwin1gmail.com on file? We ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) have even received emails from WordPress.
For example, here is one we received on the same day that the association president received the email from you (see above for that email):

    Hello, EL MUNDO:

Creating the website you want can be an exciting but challenging journey.

You start with a blank page and you have to choose from many options. So where do you start? And then? And how do you know that you are following the correct steps?

Don’t worry, we’ve already been through that.

At the end of this email, you will have a clear roadmap to follow. You can even publish your new website in less than an hour.

Remember: You can always tweak things as your knowledge of WordPress.com increases!

Your website needs a name first … You can define the title and short description of the website here .

However, if you want your website to look professional, you definitely need a custom domain that matches your website title.

Custom domain names will help people remember your website. Also, they are preferred by search engines, which means that your website will be shown to more people when they search.

That’s why all our payment plans include a free domain for one year.

If you haven’t updated yet, don’t worry. Plans start at C $ 5.00 per month and have a 30-day money-back guarantee; they are one of the best investments you can make for your website. Click here to choose one of our paid plans and get a free domain name for one year.

Update now and request your domain
    […]

Please, could you provide an explanation?

You do not have to look into the account if you do not want to; however, if you could provide us with an explanation, it would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.
    L.G.

  • The domain name cubanoscanadienses.com was canceled on September 25 by the owner of the domain name.

If you’d like to recover it, we can assist, but we will need to see the request from the WordPress.com account which owned the domain name, not the account you’re currently logged in as now.

    Thank you Macmanx.

Is there an email address linked to the person or association who canceled the domain name? We cannot write from the cubanoscanadienses wordpress account because we left the association weeks ago and provided them the info and they changed the password. Is there a way we can know from what IP address or what city it was cancelled? Something is not making sense here…they are saying we cancelled it but we didn’t. ????? Thanks for your assistance.

  • Hi there,

I see this is a bit complicated, and not really something we can discuss here in this public forum. Would you be so kind as to reach out to our Account Recovery team for a closer look?

Hello, how i can I reach someone if we do not have access to that cubanoscanadienses paid account anymore? This is important to us.

  • You can send the email from any account to passwordhelp@wordpress.com. Our colleagues from the Account Recovery team will be able to provide you with more information.
