How the heck to you get in touch with WordPress? I want to find out what I signed up for and there is no direct route to ask them a question.

Here is a tutorial to get you started with WordPress.com:
http://learn.wordpress.com/If you have other more specific questions, then these forums are the best place to ask and find answers. There is no phone contact with staff, but the many volunteers (and staff) who answer questions here will be able to help you.
To find threads you have posted in the past, click on your username on the top right where it says “welcome bggtreats.” Click on the word under anyone’s name in these forums to see their past questions and responses.
WordPress.com is free: no charge for hosting, no charge for using the software which makes it work. There are restrictions which you should review: https://en.wordpress.com/tos/ . There are upgrades you can purchase but they may not be necessary for your purposes: http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/
(More information about available upgrades: http://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=upgrades )There is a lexicon to help you understand the jargon we use:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/lexicon/If you have other questions, feel welcome to ask here!

Also note that the blog / site you started has been deleted. You’ll need to choose another URL if you want to have a blog or website here:
WordPress.com does not recycle blog names but you are welcome to use an alternate name for your site.
A WordPress.com blog owner can choose, at any time, to permanently delete his/her blog. There are any number of reasons someone may want to do this, and we certainly respect their wishes and decisions.
Addresses (URLs) for blogs that have been deleted by the owner will remain deleted. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow someone to take over the address of a blog that was previously owned and deleted by its original/previous owner. Please do not submit support requests asking us to do this.
Imagine you have a blog for a while but then decide to delete it for personal reasons. We then let someone else take over the name. A year later you get an angry phone call from a friend or relative who has clicked on an old bookmark, reads something offensive, and thinks that it was published by you. This is precisely why our policy is, and will remain, in place.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/Or you could look into domain mapping, a paid upgrade, to see if that name is available.
