  Im a bit confused.
  im in the process of transferring my wix domain which is http://www.cookwithanisa.com to 1and1.com web hosting package for wordpress, which I am paying a monthly fee for.

  The monthly fee which I see on WordPress to upgrade my package, is that for extra features, or can I also get webhosting through WordPress?

  Also once my transfer is complete of my domain http://www.cookwithanisa.com to 1and1, how do I make my blog which I have started on a temporary domain of http://cookwithanisa.apps-1and1.net/, have that same custom domain of http://www.cookwithanisa.com?

  If you are setting up a self-hosted WordPress site with 1and1, you do not need any WordPress.com upgrades. WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org sites are similar, but not at all connected:

  WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  For your other questions, I would encourage you to talk to the 1and1 support team. WordPress.com staff can only assist with WordPress.com sites.

  Thank you very much for your reply.
  I had a read of the link, and it sounds like I didn’t really need hosting with 1and1 and I could have just had my custom domain transferred via WordPress.com?

  Am I correct in thinking that?

  Ok so I cancelled the transfer request from wix to 1and1.

  How do I now transfer my Wix domain to WordPress.com?

  When I try and do this within WordPress.com, it says the domain is taken and only allows me to map it?

  How do I transfer it completely?

  While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as explained here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
