Confused about affiliate link rules
-
Hello–I currently run a site over at Blogger, but lately I’ve been thinking about switching to WordPress. I use Amazon and iTunes affiliate links on my site, and I’m a little confused about WordPress’s rules.
The rules say:
We do not allow any image with an affiliate link. If you’re interested in making money from this type of ad, check out our WordAds program. You can read more about our advertising policies here.
The linked advertising policy only talks about ads along the lines of AdSense, which I don’t use.
What is WordPress’s policy on images within the text that contain an affiliate link? For example, the cover art of a video game that links to the store page when you click on it, or an Amazon widget like the one I have at the bottom of this page: http://www.samanthalienhard.com/p/ace-attorney.html
Thanks!

Generally, we allow all text-based affiliate links within the context of posts/pages (like the title of a book or name of a product).
Cover images are also acceptable, as long as they are within the context of the post/page.
We do not allow the more ad-like affiliate banner ads, or any affiliate links which are outside the context of posts/pages.

We do not allow any affiliate links in widgets. We only allow them within the context of posts/pages.

All right, so that covers even widgets embedded within the posts. Thanks! That clears up my questions.
