Confused about Categories

I’ve only recently joined WordPress and am trying to keep things simple. I don’t need to create a whole lot of categories, but in order to avoid it always saying my blogs were posted in “Uncategorized” (which to me sounds ugly), I created a category entitled “Personal Life.” I want all the blogs to go into that category. How can I change the ones which still say they are going into “Uncategorized?” Or can I?

1. To change the category of a single post, you go to Posts>Edit, click Quick Edit (shows up when you hover under the post title), check and uncheck appropriate category boxes, click Update Post. (The same thing can be done in the regular post editor, but Quick Edit is faster.)
2. In Settings>Writing you can set “Personal Life” as your default post category, so that all new posts will automatically be filed under that category if you don’t choose or create another one.
3. If you don’t want “Uncategorized” as a category at all, you can delete it in Posts>Categories (provided it’s no longer your default category). In that case you won’t need to do no.1 above: if you delete the unwanted category, then all posts originally filed under it will be automatically reassigned to the new default category.

If you can’t find “Uncategorized”, then you had already deleted it.
Category “1” crops up when you have deleted the original default category without setting another one in its place.
