Confused about Domain name registration

    Hi,
    I just started using wordpress. While using it, it told me I could buy a domain name (i.e. MYBLOGNAME.com instead of MYBLOGNAME.wordpress.com). I was interested, but somewhat confused.

    If I buy this domain name through WordPress, am I restricted to only using it to host my WordPress blog? That’s what I planned to do initially, but I would like to have the option of hosting a different site on that domain name down the line.

    So, if I buy the domain name through WordPress, can I use it to host any site I want (like with Godaddy.com & Hover.com), or will it limit me to just hosting my blog?

    Basically, is buying a domain through WordPress pretty much the same thing as it would be from a site like GoDaddy.com (i.e. I have ownership of that domain and can host what I choose)?
