Confused about domains and applying themes
-
I am new to WordPress and site design. I have http://www.trevorfolley.com and also http://www.trevorfolley.wordpress.com (although I’m not sure why as I thought I had only purchased one domain). I have recently bought a theme that I want to apply to the second site but it only appears on the first one. Is there any way I can get it transferred?
Many thanks for any suggestions. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com addresses (example.wordpress.com) are free. On those sites and any site using the WordPress.com domain mapping upgrade to redirect your example.wordpress.com to example.com, you can use one of the 100+ themes available in our WordPress.com Dashboards under “Appearance>Themes”. We cannot upload or use any other theme.

This is really helpful. Thankyou. I hope I haven’t messed things up for myself.
I wanted to change the address for my site to http://www.onelearningjourney.com but appear to have done so for the free (www.trevorfolley.wordpress.com) one rather than the one that allows me to use the premium themes (www.trevorfolley.com).
Is there any way to get the http://www.onelearningjourney.com address to point to the other site so I can use the premium themes? -
You will have to hire a third-party hosting service such as godaddy, bluehost, etc., install and configure the software from wordpress.ORG and then export any content you have here and import it into that self-hosted blog. With that self-hosted blog, you will be responsible for all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong, you have to figure it out and fix it. Figure an average monthly cost for hosting of $10 to $25 depending on bandwidth and storage requirements.
Then you can install the theme you purchased on that self-hosted blog.

Did you buy the Domain Mapping upgrade for trevorfolley.wordpress.com so that it would redirect to trevorfolley.com?
Did you buy the Premium theme from WordPress.com?

Thanks again for getting back to me.
I bought the them from Theme Forest.
I haven’t bought the Domain Mapping upgrade. Would it mean that if someone typed http://www.onelearningjourney.com they would be directed to http://www.trevorfolley.com? -
trevorfolley.wordpress.com already redirects to onelearningjourney so you have the domain mapping upgrade in place. You can check in your Dashboard under Upgrades>Domains. If you want it to redirect to trevorfolley.com instead, you would need to change the nameservers in the Domain Manager under Settings.
At this point, I’m going to suggest that you contact WordPress.com Support directly for further help in sorting out your domains. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
Regardless of all, with the domain mapping upgrade you can still only use the 100+ themes that are located in your Dashboard>Appearance>Themes. No other themes can be used.
Cheers and good luck!

Hello, I´m from Brazil so sorry for my English! I have a blog http://www.franquiaideal.wordpress.com and my own domain http://www.franquiaideal.com.br. Recently I transferred my blog to this domain in a web hoster (www.hostnet.com.br) and I’m having problems to transfer the theme that I have chosen directly in wordpress (Enterprise by Studiopress). The guys from this web hoster told me they don’t have access to this theme so they can’t transfer the theme to this host. Please, is there anyone who could tell me what to do?
-
Your site franquiaideal.com.br is self-hosted using the free WordPress.ORG software. Support for self-hosted blogs is found at http://wordpress.org/support/
(And you can find a link to the theme author for Enterprise in the footer at the bottom of your WordPress.com site http://www.studiopress.com/ )

Helo Jennifer, thanks for your help! Does It means that I have to purchaise this theme if my site is self-hosted although directly with wordpress I am using it for free?

Look in the WordPress.ORG free Themes directory and see if you can find the Theme you are looking for.
