Confused about not getting domain name I paid for
-
Hi, my name is William Wesley. I’m confused. I just signed up for your Premium Plan ($99), which includes a domain name, right? Well, during the signup I requested williamwesleyfilms.com but now I see that I got williamwesleyfilms.wordpress.com instead. Please clarify. My number is *REMOVED* if you wish to call. Thank you.

Hi there William! There is a difference between your Domain Name (williamwesleyfilms.com) and your WordPress.com site (williamwesleyfilms.wordpress.com).
A domain name is just that: A name used to identify a particular website on the internet. Your site’s domain name is like your mailing address: it lets people know where to find you.
Your WordPress.com site is where you will be able to design, manage, and publish your content. The content (text, images, video, etc) is what resides on our servers. At WordPress.com, every site has a default web address that ends in wordpress.com
When you bought your domain name, you also set up domain mapping. This means that your domain name and your WordPress.com are now connected. Search engines will read your site as williamwesleyfilms.com. No one but you will be aware that williamwesleyfilms.wordpress.com is your site here at WordPress.com.
I know it can all get a little confusing. If you’re interested in learning more about how domains work, please check out:
