Confused about the concept of web hosting!

I want to start a blog with earning potential, but I’m a little bit confused on the concept of web hosting. I understand that WordPress is self-hosting, but when I search for advice online I see several posts about hosting with Bluehost or another hosting service in tandem with WordPress. Why would I need both?

And yes you only need one hosting, if you go with Bluehost then you can host your WordPress site using Bluehost you don’t need additional hosting service :)
