Confused about themes

    I really would like to use a theme from this website – wordpressthemesbase.com and I can not figure out for the life of me how it all works. I downloaded the theme but its just a folder.. do I need to know CSS to be able to make it all work? I don’t mind buying the part of wordpress that makes it so you can customize the CSS… but I just don’t know anything about it to make it work.

    If there is another website that works better then thats fine.. i just love one of the themes on that website and feel like it really portrays what I am going for in a blog theme.

    I’ll bet you forgot to read the sticky post at the head of this forum. It explains the differences between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG.

    Here at wordpress.COM we provide support only for those with free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. There is no FTP access to the blogs and uploading themes into them is not possible. We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM. We are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under Appearance > Themes.

    All those who have blogs hosted by any host other than wordpress.COM must post here to get support for their software > http://wordpress.ORG/support/

    The CSS upgrade does not allow you to upload themes. It allows you to modify the style of the themes already here under appearance > themes.

    CSS is also theme specific which means the CSS from one theme cannot be used with another theme. Each theme designer decides what they are going to name their selectors in the CSS so it is all different.
