Confused about transferring to wordpress
-
I have read over and over how to transfer a domain to wordpress. Currently, we have the domain name cccloc.info and it is registered at mydomain.com.
We want our domain name to read cccloc.info instead of cccloc.wordpress.com.
How do we do it?
I just need the FIRST step.
Where do I go?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you would like to use your domain you will first need to purchase a domain mapping upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

These instructions are just too complex for me to understand. Our domain is cccloc.info, and from what I read, WP doesn’t support .info; correct?
So I have to go back to the registrar (whoever that is, I don’t know) and map the server to WordPress; correct?
Is there a video that walks through this? Either on youtube or WP?

Hi cccloc,
I would be happy to help walk you through the steps to use your domain cccloc.info with your WordPress.com site cccloc.wordpress.com. These are the same steps timethief linked to that explain how to map an existing domain. (Because WordPress.com does not accept incoming domain transfers, you will need to keep your domain registered at Domain.com and follow these instructions to point your domain at your WordPress.com site.)
The first step is to point your domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMBecause your domain is registered at Domain.com, you will need to follow their instructions for changing your name servers here:
http://www.domain.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=166&type=How%20To#Nugget_225
If you aren’t sure how to do this, you may want to contact Domain.com support and send them this message:
I would like to use my domain with a WordPress.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMI do not want to transfer my domain, but want to leave it registered with you. WordPress.com does not permit mapping by setting an A record to point to an IP address. They require the name servers to be updated as described.
If you already have an email address set up using your domain (for example, (email visible only to moderators and staff)), you can also include this in your message:
Additionally, can you please provide me with the complete MX and/or other DNS records I will need to enter on WordPress.com’s end, so that my email on this domain will continue to function after my name servers have been updated?
If you don’t have an email address like that set up yet, you don’t need to worry about this right now.
If you have any questions about this so far, please let me know!
