Confused accounts

  I have a wordpress.org account and a wordpress.com account. They both have the same name. (www.charlespuccia.com). This is confusing. Can I delete the Free account and stay with my wordpress.org? If not, can I rename the Free accont?

  Hi Charles,

  In regards to accounts and account names, with a WordPress.com account (the one you are using right now to post in these forums), you do have the option of changing your username to something else, if that’s something you wish to do.

  However, you cannot delete WordPress.com accounts. You can delete sites you’ve created under your account, but the account itself cannot be deleted. Please refer to the following documentation regarding this policy:

  As for the website associated with your free WordPress.com account — http://charlespuccia.wordpress.com/ — this right now is set as your primary site. With a WordPress.com account, you can create another site under the same account and set that as your primary site.

  Hi Paulo,

  Thanks so much for fast response and explanation. My issue is that I used the same address name on both the free wordpress.com and the paid wordpress.org.

  So, I can delete the website but not the account. That’s okay. I just want to avoid confusion. I will try to remove the website. Do I need to have at least one website with my account? If so, I can create something that is not confusing with my wordpress.org.

  So, I can delete the website but not the account.

  Your WordPress.com account can be deactivated and there are also some steps you can work through to remove your personal information, if you would like to do so:
