Confused by .com vs .org
-
Hello,
I am confused about stg. I create a free account with wordpress.com . I can create my website etc.. For later stages , I will need woocommerce plugin so I checked out the web and learned that i need to host wordpress on my own server if i want to add woocommerce plugin. So visited .org site and downloaded wordpress.
Now , If i install wordpress into my server what will happen ? I an really confused about this . If I install wordpress , Don’t i need the wordpress.com and its tools because i will use it on my own server and use the admin page there ? If yes , this means that i can use my domain for wordpress but normally it is a paid service for wordpress.com so as you can see I am really confused Can you clearify me about this ?
TY
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you will need WooCommerce in the future, you will want to set up a site on 3rd party hosting, like BlueHost or SiteGround, that offers the standalone WP (org) software on its servers. WordPressdotcom is separate from WP (org) in spite of the name. Have you looked at this Support doc? https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you set up your own site with a 3rd party web host using WP (org) software, you won’t need a WordPressdotcom site as well. You may wish to maintain your current account to use it to connect the jetpack plugin to your WP (org) site, but that is the only reason to maintain it.
Come back if you have further questions.

Understood thanks:)
So installing to own server and maintaing it ownself is cheaper and has unlimited features compared to dot com right ? Does .org also offer free and premium themes ?
Thanks

Hello again. Cost of hosting a WP (org) install depends on your web host provider. Here on WordPressdotcom you can run a free site forever. The only thing you pay for are extra features available in the upgrade plans.
Yes, there are more features/themes/plugins available with standalone WP (org) but it also demands more technical know-how on your part. Here on WordPressdotcom there are certain limitations, but all back end updates and security are taken care of for us users.
If the com vs org support doc doesn’t answer your questions, I would also suggest heading over to https://wordpress.org/ to learn more about setting up and maintaining your own WP (org) install.
Hope that also helps.
