Confused by new contact form
-
I noticed today that WordPress have updated the contact form. I had a contact form in the side bar of my blog and since the change it started showing my email address. I removed the form and tried adding it to a post, but again my email shows (it didn’t before the change). I don’t want my email address on public display so how do i have a contact form that doesn’t show my email address please? A contact form is important for my blog but not one that displays my email address. I have removed the form for the moment in case i get spammed!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, it looks like a major update to the contact form, so now when you are logged in, your details are shown in the form. But, if I understand the support doc correctly you are the only one to see your details, other users see their details if they are logged in to WordPress.com.

I’ve been playing around with it and you are correct. If logged into a wordpress.COM account, then the details are filled in for the person. If a person is NOT logged into a wordpress.COM account, then the details are not shown with a caveat. If a person has used the contact form before and they return to use it again, their details will be filled in for them as long as they have not cleared their browser cookies in between.

Thank you, that’s such a relief to know only i can see it (i hope!). It was just odd because my email address didn’t show previously on the form. Thanks again, much appreciated.

You’re welcome. Having the ability to set additional custom fields for the contact form is a great thing and long overdue, but it is here now, so enjoy!

Wow, could I use your help to set up a ufo/paranormal reporting form for my site. I just took over mysticaluniverse.com, and am converting it to a wordpress theme. To say that I am overwhelmed would be such an understatement. If I could just get it set up properly, I can get about the task of bringing it all over. I know that I’m close, but there are certain tweaks I can not make without screwing everything else up. And I thought I was gray before:-)

@whitehorse, they have a plugin for self-hosted blogs. It is called Grunion something or another. There are also a lot of other contact page plugins as well.
@TT, yup you can through just fine. Funny that Jennifer was caught by the spam filter. Of course we all know what kind of mischief Akismet can get up to.

I added a contact form to my WordPress.com site but I can’t seem to find out how to specify what email address the form should go to. It seems like the only option is for it to be sent to me but I want it to go to someone else (the person in charge of handling contact info). Does anyone know if this can be done? I can’t imagine there not being an option for this but I could not find it anywhere. Thanks!! ~Corinne

Hi hi, i hope i’m asking in the right place…
I just created a contact form for my site and ran into a problem. The contact looks all right in the editing box, but in preview, it’s all centred. I tried left-aligning the text, but it doesn’t work. Then i tried checking the html view, but there aren’t any align tags there that are causing the problem. What shall I do?
Thanks!

btw, the post is still in drafts. I didn’t want to publish it with the contact form looking like that. It looks really bad. :(

Sometimes the preview can be messed up. Everything should normally left-align when published.
You said you put it in a post? Most times it is best to put contact forms in pages since if they are in posts, as you make new posts, it get pushed further and further away.
