Confused by new contact form
-
Ah, I see. So I should go ahead and publish it then?
Yeah, I put it in a post… using it as a sort of poll thingy. Just an experiment. :) Thanks for the tip though! Okays I’ll publish it and see what happens.
Thank you so so much!

You are welcome. You can also, if you are not familiar with them, use the poll daddy polls here at wordpress.COM and put them into a page or a post, or even into your sidebar (text widget).

Hi again, I’ve published it. But it’s still centred. :( Here’s the link:
Is there anything I can do about it?

You are welcome, and it is a simply fix in the CSS, so they should be able to do it very quickly.

Hello, using WordPress 3.0.2 I don’t have the icon for creating a contact form. Does anyone have any ideas why this would be?
-
@kakubei, the contact form is a wordpress.COM feature. Your blog is self-hosted which means you will have to find and install a plugin. Support for self-hosted wordpress blogs is over at http://wordpress.org/support/ .
Also, upgrade to 3.0.4 as soon as possible. You are on an unsecure version of wordpress and risk getting your blog hacked.
For the contact form, you need to search over at http://wordpress.or/extend/plugin/ and search for “grunion contact form” and you should fine the plugin that is just like the contact form used here.
-
And you might want to take a look at this sticky post for the differences between wordpress.COM and self-hosted wordpress.ORG blogs: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1 .

Hullo, just to update, when I wrote the support, I was informed that it appeared to be a problem with the theme. They’ve been working on it and got it fixed up nice and pretty today. They also fixed a problem with the options below the comments box so that they are all nicely fixed now.
Cheers! :) And thank you all!

hi… my blog is http://www.philanthropicintelligence.com using coraline. We’d like the contact form to be on the second from left widget column but the right side of the contact form box gets cut off so looks bad. Any suggestions to fix it? (I don’t know css) It would be fine for us to lose the box around all of the edges of the form.

If you have Custom CSS, you can customize the look of the form.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

How about you put the Contact Form on it’s own Page and then just put a link to that Page in your Sidebar?
I do that on my site and works great – I do use a Custom Menu to hide the Page.
-
thanks timethief.. we ARE trying to hold off on css!
Great workaround idea auxclass. Did you just cut and paste the html for contact form onto a regular page? -
