Confused Marketing Director

    Greetings,

I am the new Marketing Director for EMC and I am in charge of the website now as well. I do not have a predecessor and whoever made the company website prior to me being here did so on the fly. I am not quite sure what they have done and have been trying to figure out how to navigate this platform. I have prior experience with WordPress but am at a loss in this current situation. I cannot find who is hosting our site. I am not sure if that was facilitated through WordPress or a different host that leverages wordpress. My company wants me to redesign our website. They would like me to leave the current version up while i work on an version in the background that we can switch too when its finished. I have done this before but am having a really hard time navigating the site we have as it stands behind the scenes to do that. I feel like before i’ve been able to work on a separate version independent of the original, and when i was done i switched the URL’s to this new version instead when its finished. I am not sure how to go about that now and any method i have looked up says i need to know who is hosting my domain. In the past i have used godaddy or siteground but i cannot get any information on who is hosting our domain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All we are trying to do is modernize our website and keep the old up until this new version is complete and switch out the old for the new one when it is completed.

A start would be to reveal the full URL for the site in question. Then you may be pointed in the right direction as it doesn’t sound like the site would be hosted here at WordPress.com.

  • Hi @michaelaevitcom

Could you please share the URL of your site? Since you’re considering a redesign while the current site in live, you might want to consider using WordPress.com and then switching your domain over when you’re ready to launch.

I look forward to hearing from you.
