Confused on how to upgrade.
-
Hello,
I’m creating a website for our small business, and would like to upgrade wordpress to allow for unlimited media space among other features, but I think I bought the wrong thing. I went to the WordPress.com site and bought the premium plan, only to find out that’s for Jetpack. I want to upgrade wordpress, not jetpack. When I do try to buy the Business plan (Which has the same price as the Jetpack plans), it tells me I need to “start” with that plan and create a new site. How do I just upgrade my site and keep what I have? Thanks!

Hi there,
The site, http://wp-site.libraryfurnitureinternational.com/, is a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software. You cannot buy a WordPress.com plan for that site.
Jetpack is the plugin that connects that site to your WordPress.com account, but the site still uses the self-hosted WordPress software, not WordPress.com.
From us you can only buy a Jetpack plan for that particular site, but that won’t have any impact on your media storage space. How much space you have on your site is determined by the hosting plan you bought from GoDaddy.com, so if you need more storage on your site you need to contact them about upgrading your hosting plan.
The Jetpack plan does add some crucial security and backup features to your self-hosted site, so I’d strongly recommend keeping it, but let me know if I should cancel and refund that instead.
If you do cancel the Jetpack plan, please make sure you have another security and backup plugin on your site. Don’t only rely on your hosting provider’s backups.
