Confused on What I’m paying for.

I’m confused and think I am paying for things that I don’t need.

All I want to do is create a landing page.

I just purchased Elementor Pro for $59 but I imagine that I may not need this as Elementor seems to do a good job on its own.

Then I purchased WordPress for $48.

And now I’m learning that I need to pay another $252 to get a WordPress Business account??!

I already have hosting via Google Domains, I just want to Activate the Elementor theme.

Can you please explain to me what I have paid for and what I really need.

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi,

It looks like you have already received a refund for your WordPress.com Personal plan. so you may have sorted this all out already. But I’ll leave a bit of info here just in case you are still confused.

There are two things commonly called “WordPress”.

    1. WordPress the free open-source site building software from WordPress.org (what you would use with your Google hosting).
    2. WordPress.com, a web host for sites using WordPress software.

The two are related, but completely separate entities. Please read this page for more info:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

You’ll want to install the WordPress software (from WordPress.org) at your host, install the Elementor plugin, activate the Elementor plugin, and then get rolling building your site!

The one thing I am slightly concerned about is that I don’t know if Google Domains has hosting for WordPress sites. That said, I also have not hosted anything with them before, so I may simply be misinformed. But if that turns out to be the case, let us know and we can help point you in another direction (hosting here or elsewhere).
