CONFUSED REGARDING UPGRADING AND WORDADS

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear all,

    1. I have upgraded my site from a free to a Premium plan. But still, there are only WordPress ads on my blog, because of which the revenue is just nil. It is clearly mentioned that under Premium and Business plan, the wordpress ads will be removed. So how does this work?

    2. If I wish to run Google Adsense on my blog, do I need to upgrade to Business plan or even then it won’t be possible? Or is Adsense only possible on a self hosted site?

Pls help. Thanks in advance! :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Wordpress ads can be removed in paid plans if you choose to remove them. However, if you choose to run ads – there will be ads. Brands may bid to advertise on your site or not – if there aren’t enough advertisers to fill all ad slots across WordPress, the slots that are the least attractive to advertisers (in other words, sites with low traffic) won’t get proper ads. So, in order to fill those empty gaps, WordPress will fill them with their own ads.

You can run AdSense with Business plan.
    But.
If you only see WordPress ads on your site, then your traffic is probably low. And if it’s low, then it’s highly unlikely that AdSense will generate enough profit to cover the $25/month (the price of Business plan).

    Hi!

    Thank you for the reply!

One more thing, I upgraded from a free plan to a Premium plan last month. Now what I am seeing is that before upgrading, I was getting all sorts of ads and good ones too! But it has stopped only after upgrading and now it’s only WordPress ads. Why is this happening?

  • Hi there,

It takes a while after activating WordAds before advertisers will start bidding on ad space on your site. Also note that the ads you see depend on factors like your location, browser history, etc. And if you have tracking blockers active in your browser you’re likely to only see generic ads rather than targeted ones.

I checked your site and I can see WordAds ads, though, so everything is working as it should.

You can use Adsense on our Business Plan, but we don’t recommend using AdSense and WordAds together – WordAds already shows ads served via AdSense as well, and running both on your site can actually lead to you making less money overall than if you only used one service.

    Hi!

    Thanks for your help! :)

So does this mean that the WordPress ads do not earn any revenue? No matter how many WordPress ad impressions are there, will the revenue always be zero?

    Thanks!

  • If no advertisers are bidding on traffic we show in-house ads just so the ad slots won’t be blank, but they don’t earn revenue, no. Keep in mind we’re not earning anything from them either in that case.

But I can see WordAds ads on your site, so everything is working as it should.
