Confused … sitemeter disappeared

  • Unknown's avatar

I just logged on to my blog and noticed that sitemeter is gone.

I checked in Design/Widgets and the text is still there. Any ideas??? Where did it go?

Maybe the site is down? Mine is gone, too.

Hmmm… that’s odd. Thanks for responding! I feel better not being all alone. :-)

Sometimes the image goes down, but the stats still work, I believe. They do need more reliable image hosting, given all the sites using that button.

Same problem here. My sitemeter counter is in the blogroll per normal instructions, and has been working for over a year. It stopped showing up last night on my WordPress weblog, although it is working normally on my Blogger weblogs, where it runs in custom CSS.

Something is fishy mine is gone too? Hope the support team is looking into it.

The widget does not even appear in my widget section now, but the ‘counter header’ is still displayed on my site???

Did it reappear? Mine was missing this morning also. But I can see it now.

Sitemeter says “For the next 30 – 45 days we will be testing our servers and databases in preparation for the launch of our new SiteMeter platform. If you are currently using our NoScript tag (plain HTML) the little SiteMeter icon that appears on the pages where you have pasted our tag may disappear.

Please rest assured that nothing is wrong with your account. You can still log in and view your stats and all your traffic will continue to be tracked and stored. This is a temporary problem associated with the image only and will be resolved once we move the new platform.”

Mine came back for a while, but is gone again.
I’m not using the sitemeter chiclet, just an alphanumeric count, although the characters may be graphical or something. Virtually identical sitemeter counters have been working without interruption on my non-WP weblogs.

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh….except that the non-WP sitemeter counters are running from the JS version under custom CSS code, while the WP counter is the noscript version running out of a text widget. I guess the sitemeter explanation covers it.

My problem is that the referral links are not shown (or shown as Unknown) for a week. It is impossible for my site not to have a link from outside!

  • Unknown's avatar

Well … it’s August 1st. Sitemeter is still misbehaving.

    @aliazad
To make sitemeter work in wordpress.com, you must use the regular HTML code. If so, The "Regular" Site Meter HTML code doesn't allow you to track the original URL from which your visitors came before linking to your site.so it says on sitemeter.com

My Site Meter disappeared two days ago, I just checked and it’s still gone. I am using the “regular” Site Meter code in the text widget as outlined here at WordPress in the forum to use, and have been for over a year and a half now, and my Site Meter was there in the early part of the week. Wednesday was the first day I noticed it was gone.

I guess Ninglun’s copy of the note from Site Meter explains it, but it’s irritating a bit.
