Confusing access between .com and .org accounts (& Gravatar, to complicate it)

My confusion overlaps with .com and self-hosted sites.

I have a wordpress.com blog. Just yesterday I also set up a new self-hosted blog with wordpress installed.

The confusion is that now when I try to log into my .com account on wordpress.com like I have for the past 5+ years using the .com account credentials, it references my .com account username but my self-hosted account password. That’s mystery #1. Mystery #2 is that when I do log in, it does not show my .com blog OR my self-hosted site – it shows SOME (but not all) of my self-hosted account info, references my .com username, and actually says I have no sites set up, which isn’t true, because I have BOTH a .com and a self-hosted site set up and live.

To add confusion, when I’m signed into said .com account, the Gravatar assigned to that say it’s my self-hosted account yet uses the photo for my .com account.

Clearly somehow these are tied together… yet not actually tied together. I am thoroughly confused. What am I doing wrong? I want the two accounts to be totally separate. They were yesterday. Not today. How do I separate the two?

I am certain it’s my error. Please clear up the confusion! Thank you so much!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The WordPress.com account you’re writing from – wejustwere – was only created recently and doesn’t have any sites associated with it. There is a separate, older account associated with the20what.wordpress.com.

I have sent an email to the address on file for the20what.wordpress.com so that I can help you to gain access and hopefully clear up what exactly happened here. Can you please check your email accounts and reply back directly?

    Thanks!
