Confusing prompts

“Before WordPress.com Connect can finish activating, you’ll need to register your website as an application …”
“If you want to sign up for an OAuth2 client ID and secret key…”
“…connect your blog to a WordPress.com account to use the powerful features normally only available to WordPress.com users”
“Most WordPress.com users will not find this useful”
    “Company is required”

Need to? Want to? How should I know? I thought I already was a WordPress.com user. What sort of features am I missing? This is total gibberish to an Admin of a simple WordPress site. There’s absolutely no explanation of what this is all about, what benefit it would bring me, what the disadvantage would be if I decline. It took me a while to discover that this prompt is connected with Jetpack (why not make that clear?) And the prompt comes each time I update . Very disconcerting.

WordPress’s use of insider jargon is very offputting to new users who simply want to create and manage a straightforward website. I thought you were aiming at the mass market of none-too-technical users.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are not a WordPress.com user. You are a WordPress.org user. You probably want to give that feedback to the coders at WordPress, who aren’t here at WP.com.

Even more confusing! (since I am both)
