Confusing Timezone Abbreviations

    Hello,

This is regarding the timezone abbreviation when scheduling a post in the new editor. (see image)

All this time I thought that the CST in the editor referred to Central Standard Time (USA), when actually upon doing some research, I just realized that it most likely means China Standard Time (my timezone is set to Macau), haha! Or could it be Cuba Standard Time or Central Summer Time? ;)

PST also has different location names: Pacific Standard Time and Philippine Standard Time.

I don’t know about other users but I believe this is my first time seeing those timezone abbreviations, and many of them are not the most intuitive about the location they represent. I mean if I put Rome as my timezone, the code is CEST, which looks foreign to me even though I’ve lived in Europe.

In the buffer app, they simply put the continent and city, like “Asia: Tokyo” (see image) which, I find, makes it simpler and clearer for the user. Maybe an idea for WordPress? ^^

    Cheers!
