confusion
-
I am so confused by WordPress. I created what I thought was a blog over a year ago and cannot ever find the site when I search on line nor can I tell someone where to go. I am the only person who has seen my site and I just happen upon it by accident. I can see it from inside the website, but I can never direct anyone to it. Is the only way to be seen to pay WP money and put the blog on Facebook and Twitter? I’m not interested in either. I started with hopes that people could go on to WordPress and find the blog, but based on what I can tell – it is not out there for public consumption.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unless or until you publish new content in posts not pages) frequently there is nothing new to attract search engines to your site to index.

I can see it from inside the website, but I can never direct anyone to it.
The URL is http://ddixon930.wordpress.com/ and all one has to do to connect to the blog is to type it into their upper browser bar and click.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with purchasing any upgrade. It is up to your to create unique and interesting content in your posts which must be published frequently to draw any attention to the site at all.
It takes time and effort to build a collection of unique content, to promote it, and to attract followers. And, it takes weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL. https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/
To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com hosted blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines – we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines
What attracts search engines is unique content in posts (not pages) that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Start now publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly. For more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/
I recommend using the step by step tutorial linked to the bottom of your Admin page https://learn.wordpress.com

The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also linked to on the bottom of your Admin page.
It is commenting on other blogs with similar content that encourages traffic to flow to your own blog. If you are a WordPress.com blogger there are onsite tools you can use to find blogs by subject matter http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2014/01/20/finding-blogs-with-similar-content/

Increasing traffic to a blog is hard work. If you want your blog to rank well in search engine results then that begins with creating and publishing original content posts (not pages) ie. unique content that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet.

These 5 videos introduce how Google discovers, crawls, indexes your site’s pages, and how Google displays them in search results. If you are using a WordPress.com theme good SEO is a given. However, going beyond the theme what the blogger has done within that structure is worth evaluating. Whether you write informative, persuasive or controversial content learning how search engines work, and how to apply basic SEO to you content will benefit your blog as it will increase traffic from targeted readers. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/10/21/two-seo-videos-for-bloggers/

Awesome. Thank you very much. I understand the hard work and the way traffic generates. The real problem I have is that I can’t even seem to get someone to view what I’ve posted by giving them the domain address. No one seems to be able to get in. Everything I do seems to show it out there, but I seem to be the only one able to see it. Thanks again for taking the time. :-)

I have zero difficulty when it comes to accessing your site or finding the indexed content that is in Google search. Perhaps those who are unable to access it need to upgrade their browser versions. That can be done here http://browsehappy.com

I can also offer some assistance re: tagging your posts so other wordpress.com users can locate them. See here http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/03/15/quick-blog-post-tagging-tips/
