confusion about domain names
-
Our first domain name, equityfiles.org is due to expire. We changed it to voices for racialjustice.org, but I think that domain is pointing to equityfiles.org, because my settings say that equityfiles.wordpress.com is our primary blog.
“the diagnostic tool says that voicesforracialjustice.org is set as the primary domain for equityfiles.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.”
So, if we let equityfiles.org expire, will it affect equityfiles.wordpress.com? or am i just getting confused because they both are called equityfiles?
If it will, how can I change this so that I can let equityfiles.org expire and not affect our blog?
thank you.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Let me give this a try
if we let equityfiles.org expire
All traffic and old bookmarks to equityfiles.org will stop working – your visitors to that URL will go into space
Unless you delete equityfiles.wordpress.com it will be fine
If you used equityfiles.org long enough for bookmarks and links to be set up to it then keeping it for a while longer would be good – search engines should be getting trained since traffic goes to voicesforracialjustice.org
If you used equityfiles.org for a while I would keep it if you can afford it – then no links to your site will be broken
Keep voicesforracialjustice.org as the primary

thank you.
I will check with others to see when it was used and what they think. I’m just relieved knowing that equityfiles.org and equityfiles.wordpress.com aren’t the same thing!
