Confusion about two email addresses

I am having a problem because I think I did not type my first password correctly so the login did not recognise it the first time I tried to use it. I then logged in with Google but I use a different email address for google so now there appear to be two profiles, one is under (email visible only to moderators and staff) (user name redacted) and the other under (email visible only to moderators and staff) (user name redacted). So sorry to confuse the issue so. I would prefer to keep the Hotmail address but it doesn’t seem to like my password!

I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. You’re currently logged in as the maxboydcomau username connected to your hotmail address, and it seems you logged in via a link we sent to that email address.
Can you please explain exactly what it is you’re trying to do?

Hi At last someone who might be able to help. maxboyd.com.au was the netregistered address but WordPress used it as my username. I must have put it in the wrong place. When WordPress asked for a password for my (email visible only to moderators and staff) email I must have typed it incorrectly as when I tried to confirm it when you sent your email it did not recognise it and I so maybe I typed it incorrectly initially. I therefore used Google to log in except that I use my sgboyd2014@gmail email for Google so somehow I have ended up with two different entries. At one stage my user name came up as sgboyd. I tried to change my password when instructed but it said the email link was faulty and you would send another but there was only the first one. I also used a link to log in so I could see what was happening as I didn’t seem to be able to contact anyone who might be able to help. I would just like a user name sgboyd with email (email visible only to moderators and staff) with title of Max Boyd Artist. I am happy if you wish to delete everything and I can start again. I haven’t chosen a template yet so there is no rush but I would like to get this sorted. Thank you for your patience – sorry for the confusion. Sandra

Hi I should add that when I go to change my username it tells me that the sgboyd name is taken. I am sure I saw it as my username on one of your screens when the gmail email was involved, therefore, it will not change it! I should have mentioned this previously which is why the username won’t change as I wish and this appears as a duplicate question. Thanks

Yes, that username is already registered, so you won’t be able to change this username to the same. Instead, you’ll need to transfer your site in this account to the other account instead.

Just to be clear, you also own the sgboyd username and you’re able to log in as that username, correct? If you are not the owner of that username there is no way you will be able to use that username for your site.
If you do own sgboyd, first, as your hotmail address is currently associated with the maxboydcomau username, you’ll first need to change the email to something else. Rather than register yet another email, you can use an alias on your Gmail account instead, something like yourname+maxboydcomau at gmail.com (for yourname use the first part of your actual Gmail address). That will send a confirmation email to your Gmail account. Click the link in that confirmation email to complete the change.
Now your hotmail address will be available again, so log out of the maxboydcomau account here on WordPress.com, and log in as the sgboyd account. Go to account settings, and update that account’s email to your Hotmail address.
Lastly, we can move your site over to the sgboyd account. Log back in as maxboydcomau and go to https://maxboydcomau.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs
You can transfer ownership of the site to the sgboyd username from there.

Last, set a long random password for the maxboydcomau account, log out, and forget about it. Log back in as sgboyd, and you’ll be able to use that account going forward.
