Confusion between sites and blogs
-
I thought what I had set up was a site called WriterPluck.WordPress.com with two blogs, SpookilyRandom and RandomlySpooky (plus another, RandomlySpookyBlog, not required but set up by accident). Instead I seem to have three sites – WriterPluck with a linked blog SpookilyRandom, RandomlySpooky, and RandomlySpookyBlog. What can I do to put this right?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Looking at my original posting here, I see that WriterPluck is a blog name. I thought it was a site name. I’m very confused. What is the relationship between a site and blog? What sites do I have in WordPress? What blogs?

This is your username account spookilyrandom
and you registered this website (blog) http://writerpluck.wordpress.com/ under it.To change blog visibility of any sites your registered under the spookilyrandom username account to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

Every site hosted by wordpress.COM is an independent site. What you do on one has no impact on any other site at all.
To delete a WordPress.COM hosted blog you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site.
The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them. Read http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

As I said above a blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

Thank TimeThief. I’m not sure I understand all the details, but you’ve given me plenty of links to follow.
Can you please confirm that my other blogs, RandomlySpooky and RandomlySpookyBlog are also registered under the user name account SpookilyRandom? -
I can’t confirm that because I am not Staff and cannot see how many username accounts you have and which blogs (websites) are registered under each account.
When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond.
