Confusion regarding exports
-
Less than an hour ago I attempted three separate exports of material on my site, limiting the material exported to 1. pages, 2. media, and 3. feedback, respectively, in the three exports.
About a minute later, I received an email message stating We have finished exporting your site “Songbook”[site URL]!
Forty minutes later, another message saying the same thing came. How can I tell which of the three exports is which if they are each to be identified only as “your site”?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@musicdoc1 You can tell by looking at the XML. Were you hoping to import these into separate sites?

@supernovia,
Hi.Were you hoping to import these into separate sites?
Not necessarily. I broke it up into smaller separate exports primarily because several previous attempts to export the whole site failed, though the last such attempt may have been a couple of years ago.
You can tell by looking at the XML.
How? Only two of the three exports were successfully received. Each is a compressed (zipped) folder containing multiple XML files, 10 in one and 11 in the other. I don’t notice anything about either folder or any individual file to indicate whether it might contain pages, media, or “feedback” (which I presume means comments and pingbacks).

Can I export the entire site, freely? I only want a portion of the site (for a new projected site that would be an extension of the existing site) but exporting the whole thing, then deleting what I don’t want might be expeditious.

It would still be multiple XML files, but you’d need all of them to import the full site anyway. May as well do one export, you know?
We’ve updated our exporter within the past few months to handle larger sites, so go ahead and try doing a full export. If you still have trouble, we’ll make one for you from our end.

@musicdoc1 that would be cool :) I don’t think so, though I think we do show notifications now when each import is complete.
