Confusion Regarding Penalties For Choosing To Cancel Domain Mapping Periodically

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to determine whether or not I want to have my website on WordPress. I want to be able to create a website with my domain name on another platform to see if I like it and then if I don’t I would like to be able to go back to domain mapping if I choose, but when I try to discontinue domain mapping I get this alert:

“Are you sure you want to remove Domain Mapping from morgylaw.wordpress.com? You will not be able to reuse it again without purchasing a new subscription.”

I want to clarify what this alert mean – why would I have to pay for a new subscription? Is this referring to a premium, business, etc. subscription? I don’t understand why i would have to pay more to map my domain again.
