Confusion when someone chooses to follow my website
-
Several people have clicked the “follow” button on my website and been confused by the dialog that displayed. One person said they were prompted to enter their email then asked for a password.
Another person clicked on a like button and was prompted to do something that involved Gravatar.
Can someone explain what these people are seeing so I can help them understand what to do?

Hi there,
Several people have clicked the “follow” button on my website and been confused by the dialog that displayed. One person said they were prompted to enter their email then asked for a password.
Here is a screenshot of what those people might be seeing when they click the blue follow button:

https://cloudup.com/cSVevhSXAT9This is because users need to be logged into their WordPress.com account in order to follow your site.
If you would want your visitors to bypass this process, I would recommend using the Follow Blog Widget:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/Or any of the other methods mentioned in the Subscriptions and Newsletters documentation:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/subscriptions-and-newsletters/Another person clicked on a like button and was prompted to do something that involved Gravatar.
Similarly, when a user tries to comment, post, or like something on a blog, a person without a WordPress.com account and Gravatar might be asked to log in and register for one.
This is screenshot of what happened when trying to “like” a post without being signed in:
