    Hello, I am taking over a website that is made through wordpress. The domain is http://www.arcticplank.is.

    Through our domain host service (www.1984.is) I was able to log into the wordpress environment, but as the previous admin. I created a new user account for myself within that space, logged my email address and username, so I would be working within that space as myself and not the previous admin.

    Now I find out that I can not log in at http://www.wordpress.com with my work email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff) which is the one I use for the domain I’m working on), and I can not sign up with it either as it’s listed as ‘already in use’, as well as my username (username: Svarkur). I am new to using wordpress and I’m wondering if the only way for me to manage the website is to log in through our domain host?

    I would also like to know if I can create a new website from scratch, delete the previous website and link the new one I have made to my domain?

    Please advice, I am in a complete knot with this. I created an account with my personal email address just to be able to receive help with this, I have no intention of using this account to create a website….

    Hi there,

    I think the biggest confusion is coming from mixing the two software provider of WordPress. The http://www.arcticplank.is site was built with the self-hosted version of the WordPress software, often called as WordPress.org. The forum, where you are currently posting, is equipped to support WordPress.com sites.

    To clarify, there are several providers of WordPress sites, but they use a different version of the platform than what we use here. Because of this we are not able to help with your question as it lies outside of our system.

    This user was not created in the WordPress.com system, but the WordPress.org. You should be able to log in with it at http://www.arcticplank.is/wp-admin

    You certainly have the option for this with WordPress.com. The steps, that you will need to take, will depend on whether you would like to use the .com or the .org environment. At this forum, we won’t be able to help you if you remain under the .org system.
