Hi there!
To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
- The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
- WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
- WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.
You would need to reach out to Bluehost support for help with updating your temporary URL to use your custom domain.
If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

I hope that helps!

I have my domain name with one provider, hosting through Bluehost and created my website on wordpress. Can you see which version of wordpress I have?
Where are the name servers that I should be using for my domain name provider and hosting provider?
Do I need to have a paid or different version of wordpress to do this?
I tried to change my site URL and home address in phpMyAdmin to my domain name and when I went back to wordpress I couldn’t get to my admin page so I had to change it back. I also tried to change it in general settings in wordpress and the same thing happened.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I am still early in the learning stages.

Hi there!
You currently don’t have a WordPress.com site. The link you shared goes to a WordPress.org site hosted by Bluehost.
While we’d love to have you with us at WordPress.com to enjoy our hosting features available with the Business plan, if you’re not planning to migrate to WordPress.com at the moment, you would want to contact Bluehost support for help with setting up a domain on your site. You won’t have to do anything on WordPress.com side since your site isn’t hosted here.
Nearly every host has their own set of instructions for setting up or changing a domain. So when you contact Bluehost support, they can help you with the exact instructions you need to follow to register a new domain (if you haven’t yet) and set that as your site’s primary domain.
Hope that helps!
