Connect or Transfer domain?

  Hi, I want to create a WordPress website for a domain I already own, but it’s not hosted by WordPress. I can either transfer it to wordpress or connect it. Which one is the best option in terms of cost and better website performance. ( I plan to post VR videos on the website).
