Connect or Transfer Domain? What’s the difference?

    I have a website already which is hosted by the company who built it & business email address etc connected. However, I hate the look of the site & wondered if it’s worth creating a new one on WordPress. But I’m not sure what the difference is between connecting or transferring the domain & whether I can connect the email address etc?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    • Connecting a domain: When connecting a domain, you simply point the domain you already own to your new WordPress.com site. The domain remains registered with your current registrar and you will continue to manage and renew it there. Connecting a domain to WordPress.com is done by updating the domain’s DNS settings at its current registrar. This allows you to use your existing domain with your new WordPress.com site without transferring domain registration.
    • Transferring a domain: Transferring a domain means moving the domain registration from your current registrar to WordPress.com. Once you transfer a domain, you’ll manage and renew it directly through your WordPress.com account. In this case, you can enjoy the full structure and security of WordPress.com
