Connect to a domain only when I pay?
-
Hi,
I want to connect my existing domain to WordPress. I thought WordPress was free. Is the only possibility to pay for a plan for that? I will have to move to a free webhosting otherwise.
Best regards,

Hi there:
While you can host a website for free here at WordPress.com, we limit what you can do with those free sites. One of these limitations is using a custom domain; you need to upgrade to one of our paid plans to use your domain instead of the free *.wordpress.com URL.
With free hosting elsewhere – you’d be responsible for the upkeep, security, and other website maintenance required to keep your WordPress site running smoothly and free from vulnerabilities and hackers. Also, these free hosts can also limit what you do with your site and they provide zero support if you have problems, so it’s not always the best deal to go with a “free” site. You can read more about the differences between hosting your site with us or somewhere else here:

I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you have any other questions.
