Connect to wordpress.com opens my site

In the WP dashboard Jetpack asks me to connect to wordpress.com in a big banner. Clicking the button changes the URL in the browser to advertisingfreelance.com/register, but that immediately changes to http://www.advertisingfreelance.com and opens the homepage of my WP website.
I have wordpress.com open and loggedin too, just in case it would make it direct. It doesn’t.

I can’t explain that behavior :) We’ll have to work together to find the problem.
Without clicking, when you put your mouse over the “Connect to WordPress.com” button, what URL shows up in your status bar? Alternatively, you should be able to right-click (or control-click if you’re on a Mac) the button and copy the link’s address to your clipboard. Please paste it here.
Have you altered the Jetpack plugin’s PHP code in any way or redefined the plugin’s
JETPACK__API_BASEconstant? -
I’ve been told by my highly knowledgeable colleague that occasionally a theme will conflict with Jetpack’s activation. What theme is your site running?
Try switching to WordPress’ default theme (Twentyten), connecting Jetpack to WordPress.com, then switching back to your theme.

Your highly knowledgeable colleague was correct. The theme I am using is a BuddyPress compatible theme called, DynamiX 2.8.4 by Creative Workz.
I switched it out and all works now and with it back on as well.
