    Hi,

I’ve read there’s no charge for doing that but I´m being prompted to a screen that I need to sign up for a paid annual plan.
I’ve read that in here, where it says: ‘The domain connection feature (also known as “mapping”) is free with any paid WordPress.com plan.’

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/#:~:text=Thedomainconnectionfeature(also,anypaidWordPress.complan.

    Please, can you assist?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there!

The domain connection is free with a WordPress.com plan, but your site doesn’t have a WordPress.com plan. You will need to upgrade your site to a WordPress.com plan before you can add a domain connection, which is intended for a domain you already own with another provider.

If you mainly need to connect a domain, the WordPress.com Personal plan is a great starting point. It will let you set your own domain as the primary address and remove ads from your site, so your site will look more professional.

Once you’ve upgraded, you can follow these steps:

    WP
    Domains » Connect a Domain

If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com. Follow the steps in this guide to keep your domain registered with your current provider and use it to show
