Connect with other services

I’m designing a website for my apparel company. I am considering some web design platforms and have some questions:
    1. Does WordPress connect with shipping services and other selling tools?
    2. Are WordPress sites transferrable?
    3. Does WordPress offer pricing plan for unlimited storage?
    4. Is the pricing applied for all sites?

  • Hi there,

First, I think it’s necessary to clarify that WordPress and WordPress.com are two different things.

WordPress is open source software made by the community on WordPress.org. That software is free to download and use, but you need to host it on a web server somewhere, and your hosting will determine the cost and storage.

WordPress is designed to be connectable to any third party service via the use of add-ons called plugins, so if you want to use a particular service, you either need to find an existing plugin to integrate with that service, or you need to build your own.

The forums you’re posting in now is for WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider for that software. Now I’ll answer your questions specifically as they apply to WordPress.com.

    1. You can use any shipping or ecommerce plugin built for WordPress on our Business and eCommerce plans. We recommend WooCommerce, and provide comprehensive support for that plugin and add-ons for that plugin sold on WooCommerce.com as part of both these plans. We don’t provide support for any other plugins.

    2. I’m not sure what you mean here. If you’re asking if you can move your site to a different hosting provide if you want, then yes, you can. How you do that will depend on exactly how you make your site with us, and on which plan.

    3. Our business and ecommerce plans come with up to 200GB of storage for media files (photos, video, audio, documents). Which in practice is equal to unlimited for just about any site except video hosting services. All our plans, including free, offer unlimited storage for the site itself, i.e. there is no maximum amount of posts, pages, or product entries you can create on a WordPress.com site.

    4. Upgrade plans are per site, per year. If you want to use a paid plan on more than one site, you need to buy a plan for each site you want upgraded.
