Connect WordPress.com Blog To New Website
-
I had been running a blog under the free version of wordpress, and now transferred to a real website with my own domain. When setting up the website, I started fresh with no pages and my home page as the first page others would see.
Currently, I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how to connect or even make–a blog page on my new website. Is there any way I can have my old blog on my new website?
Or must I make a completely new blog and take down the old one? That is fine too, I just cannot figure out how to do it on the “X” theme!
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi teehalz,
I just want to make sure I understand properly, but I think I do.
You currently have a blog setup on WordPress.comYou’ve bought a new domain name and hosting service elsewhere but have installed the self hosted version of WordPress from wordpress.org.
Is that all right?
If so in your WordPress.com account in the admin section you can go under Tools then Export. There is an option there to export which will create an xml file of all your posts and comments.
Then under your new self hosted site, you should be able to login and under Tools there there should be an import.
Once you have the xml file exported, if you need more help with the import it would likely be best to then open up a thread on the WordPress.org forums
