  Sure! I’ll be happy to help you with this.

  I assume you’re referring to Domain Connection when you say, “connect your domain.” Basically, there are two ways you can use a domain you already own. They are:

  1. Domain Connection: This means you keep your domain registered where it is but point it to your WordPress.com site using our nameservers or IP addresses.
  2. Transfer the domain to WordPress.com: This means you transfer the registration to us, so you don’t pay your domain registrar separately.

  If you upgrade to a yearly WordPress.com plan, you get a free domain credit for the first year. You can use that credit to transfer the domain to us (second option), and we’ll renew the domain for another year. From the second year onwards, both the domain and the WordPress.com plan will renew separately.

  The WordPress.com Personal plan is a great starting point to get started with your own domain and remove ads.
